Autotech Council's Spotlight Series meetings are open to the public, and follow the member meeting format of rapid-fire tech introductions. This month, 4 or 5 startups in the Transportation-as-a-Service (TaaS) segment will introduce the Autotech Council community to their ideas and technologies in our virtual meeting room.
Silicon Valley, California, September 2 2021/Meeting Recap/Autotech Council’s Spotlight Series, hosted by Avanta Ventures, feature a handful of interesting startups working in a single industry segment followed by an interactive conversation on that topic lead by a few member experts. In our first in the series, we focused on Transportation-as-a-Service (TaaS). Members enjoyed this new format, offering a focused short session meeting to meet a few innovative companies in the this sector. The startups introduced covered next-gen people movers for campuses and towns, shared mobility system for employers and commuters, and micromobility sharing.
Following the presentations, our speakers and members enjoyed a lively discussion on some of the opportunities and challenges around Transportation-as-a-Service. There was agreement that over-promising and over-relying on Autonomous Vehicles could be detrimental to progress in this segment, at least in the short term. The general consensus was that the long-term scenario for TaaS will likely be multiple different modes of transport supported by smart city solutions, with the success of TaaS and Smart City codependent.
Thanks to our speakers, the question panel from Leddartech and Avanta Ventures, to everyone who joined in the conversation and to Avanta Ventures for hosting this Series of meetings. Next up in the series will be Spotlight on Last Mile in September. Meanwhile, members can review the presenters' decks from today in the member-only presentation library.
